Wandering around the World
Posted on Jun 6, 2020 by Charley
We all know travel is limited at the moment. And who knows how much longer international borders will be closed, flights will be grounded and tourist hotspots will stand empty.
But when that day comes where we can all head back to the airport, or even venture to the other side of the country for a staycation, I reckon a lot of us will do so with some trepidation. And some of us might need a little bit of inspiration to get those travel juices flowing again. So in order to inspire you for your post Covid-19 adventures, here are 7 of my favourite travel quotes which will reignite your travel bug.
“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore” -Andre Gide
Sometimes you simply have to step out of your comfort zone. To be courageous and remind yourself that you are capable. Even though the future of travel is so unclear, remember that sometimes we have to push ourselves far beyond our boundaries in order to discover what the world has in store for us.
“Adventure is worthwhile” -Aesop
Sometimes you just need something simple. Aesop hits the nail on the head; whilst the world is on lockdown, I for one have become so much more aware of how important travelling is. Stepping into the unknown, experiencing cultures and discovering beautiful communities are just part of the incredible experiences you’ll gain when you travel.
“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire” -Jennifer Lee
If travelling is in your bones; If you have that unrelenting travel bug; If you long to discover new shores, then be fearless. Don’t give up the pursuit of new adventures.
“The journey, not the arrival, matters” -T.S. Eliot
Travel can be messy sometimes. Missed flights, awkward bus journeys, accommodation nightmares. And once we finally get settled into our destination, we can look back on the journey and realise that was the time we made the most memories. Every taxi, every hike, every conversation with a local when you’re lost. That’s the stuff that matters.
“Life is short and the world is wide” -Unknown
Does this need an explanation?
“Hope is the only thing stronger than fear” -Suzanne Collins
It’s a scary time right now. The world seems to have gone crazy. And all we have to hold on to is the hope that we will be able to get back to normal one day. That we will be able to see our friends. That we will be able to explore new places, meet new people, and see the world again.
“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before” -Dalai Lama
I love this quote. To be honest, I use it as an excuse when someone asks me why I’m going travelling…again. When we’re able to, go someplace new. Pick a new country every year and explore new horizons.
Be bold.
Live undaunted.

Great collection of quotes! The Jennifer Lee one in particular is a favourite, and such an important thing to do. Of course, the classic Dalai Lama quite is certainly a great piece of advice for travellers! Thanks for sharing!
