Welcome to another day of Blogmas! Isn’t it crazy Christmas is less than a week away! If you’ve been following Blogmas this year, you’ll have seen our Christmas Movie Bingo. I admitted in that post that I hadn’t really seen many Christmas films (shocking I know), so I thought I’d watch a few and cross them off my list! Here are my 3 favourite Christmas Films of all time…
I LOVE this film. We watch it every year on the first Tuesday in December and it always gets me in the Festive mood. Michael Keaton plays the title character, a father who always fails to keep his promises and dies in a car accident. A year on from the fatal event, he returns as a snowman and has one final chance to put things right with his young son before he’s too late. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that’ll have you feeling happy, sad and Christmassy all at the same time – oh, it also has Mark Addy in too if you aren’t sold already!
As a 24 year old, I probably shouldn’t like this film as much as I do. Starring Will Ferrell, the film focusses on a man called Buddy who – after discovering he is a man and not an elf – leaves the safety of the North Pole to find his real dad in New York. It’s a real Festive feel-good film and to be honest, I could probably watch it a million times over.
MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET (1994)
I watched this film all the time when I was growing up. Starring Richard Attenborough and Mara Wilson (Matilda), the film focusses on six-year-old Susan who is sceptical of Santa Claus. When tasked with hiring a Santa who will pose with kids at Macy’s Department Store, Susan’s other enlists a man named Kris Kringle – who claims to be the real Santa.
