Recipes from Around the World: Ohio Buckeye Candy

Although travel is still on hold for the next few months, I still want to venture round the world in one way or another! So each month I’ll be sharing some of my favourite recipes from my travels and this month is the turn of Ohio Buckeye Candy!

If you missed last month’s recipe for Pierogi, make sure you check it out!

Buckeye Candies are essentially peanut butter balls dipped in rich sweet chocolate and are a super popular treat in Ohio. Named for their resemblance to the nut of the Ohio buckeye tree (the state tree of Ohio), many Ohioans make buckeyes straight from scratch!

I received this delicious recipe on a little postcard from Ohio and I was super excited both to try it and share it with you guys! This recipe makes around 4 dozen delicious Buckeye Candies!

1 stick soft butter

1 box powdered sugar

1½ cups peanut butter

1tsp. vanilla

12oz. chocolate chips

Mix first four ingredients.

Form into small balls and refrigerate overnight.

Melt chocolate chips.

Using a toothpick, pick up a peanut butter ball and partially dip into chocolate.

Refrigerate or freeze until ready to serve.

Tuck in and enjoy!

Have you tried Ohio Buckeye Candy before? Let me know in the comments below!
