The Best Theatre Things to do in London

London is a catalyst for all things theatre related – pretty much every street you go down will feature something related to the theatre, whether it be a show, a tour, or some merchandise. Here are my top theatre-related things to do in London…

Catch a Show

There are a million and one shows to choose from to satisfy your theatre needs. Whether you’re after a thrill from The Woman in Black, a sing-a-long with the cast of Mamma Mia, or an adventure into the wild with the Lion King, there is something for everyone! Don’t forget you can often get cheap theatre tickets from TKTS in Leicester Square on the day of the performance!

Drury Lane Tour

The longest functioning theatre in London (and one of the oldest in the world), The Drury Lane Theatre is one of the most stunning and interesting spots to catch a show in London. Your tour guides will take you on an exciting journey through the theatre’s history, where you’ll hear ghost stories, learn about a truly Royal scandal, and experience the true heart of the theatre. You can grab tickets and find out more here.

Shakespeare’s Globe

Whether you fancy catching a performance of one of Shakespeare’s famous plays, grab yourself some cool souvenirs, or take a tour of one of the most iconic theatre’s in the world, The Globe Theatre is one of the best places to visit in London. I recently took a tour of the theatre and it was one of the best tours I’ve done in a long time!

The London Theatre Walking Tour

I love a good walking tour – so naturally I had to suggest going on a theatre-themed tour of England’s capital city! This tour covers the majority of London’s best-known theatres, and will share the stories of over 400 years of history, heritage, and the odd ghost story.

The Theatre Café

After all that walking you’re probably going to need a good old cup of tea – in a theatre-themed café of course. Located right in the midst of London’s most famous theatres, the Theatre Café is filled with memorabilia, hosts open mic nights, and often has visit from some famous faces from the West End and Broadway!

Happy Exploring!

  1. I have been lucky enough to see a few shows in London. I haven’t made it to the Globe yet though, so that’s definitely on my bucket list. The theatre café sounds interesting as well, I will definitely check it out when I finally get back in England!
