Here we are…another new year and another 365 days of opportunities, adventures, and experiences await us.
I’ve been a little bit off the ball lately with blogging. University has taken over the majority of my life over the last 3 or 4 months (perks of being in third year!) and to be honest, putting my blog on the back burner was the right thing to do. But with a new year well under way, and my university deadlines relatively on top of, I figured it was about time I got back into the swing of things. And its good to be back!
2021 was a bit of a hit and miss year wasn’t it? For the most part it felt like we were constantly on a see-saw, never knowing if we were coming or going, never knowing what restrictions, lockdowns, or curveballs were just around the corner. And for someone who likes to have all their ducks in a row, it was pretty difficult. I’m not someone who can easily adapt to sudden changes. I’m that girl who has a list for everything, who is always twenty minutes too early, and who has a mild freak out every time someone cancels or changes their plans. So 2021, for all its great moments, was pretty stressful. But we made it through – and congratulations for making it through. I think we all deserve a pat on the back!
Looking into the year ahead, I’m pretty excited and relatively optimistic for what lies ahead. I’m hoping and praying that this year the world will feel somewhat normal again, that we can finally get back to doing the things we truly love with the people we do life with. Don’t get me wrong, I know that this pandemic is not going to completely disappear overnight or over the space of a couple of weeks. Its going to be here for a while. But as it always does, life goes on. The clock keeps ticking, the Earth keeps spinning, and we have to keep living. We have to carry on dreaming, striving, exploring – because if there’s anything that this whole pandemic has taught us, its that life is unpredictable, precious and so very short. It’s said time and time again, but none of us know what tomorrow will bring. For some of us it could be the best day of our lives, for others it could be the worst. But no matter what life throws at us, I believe the last two years have taught us to be strong, to be resilient, to be thankful, and to be hopeful.
I’ve made a few goals for this year and I figured I’d share them here, on my first post of 2022, to hold myself accountable. So whilst this isn’t the most travel-themed post I’ve ever shared on my website, I hope you’ll stick with me on this one and leave me a little encouragement down in the comments! And with any luck, I’ll be back very soon with a brand new post full of wanderlust and adventure!
Without any further-ado, here are my five goals for 2022…
