10 Cities in 2022

I’m feeling optimistic that this year I’ll be able to do a little more travelling and explore some brand new places. Although I’m not one for many official New Years Resolutions, I do like to set myself some goals to aim towards. One of those goals for 2022 is to visit ten cities. Whether that’s abroad or in the UK, I’m hoping I’ll get to visit at least 10 city-destinations this year and explore some new places, meet some new people, and have some new experiences.

So here are my ten cities in 2022!

Leeds is one of my favourite cities in the UK, and it’s also where I’ll be moving to in September for University. Although that means I’ll definitely be visiting this Yorkshire gem, I’m hoping to spend a few days there as a ‘tourist’, visiting the top sights, getting a feel for the city, and hopefully finding my feet a little before the big move.

I’ve always wanted to visit Finland – I’m not sure what it is, but something about it just draws me in. And so a few weeks ago I booked myself some flights and I’ll be heading to the Finnish capital in June for a few days before heading off to a few other European capitals…

Once again, Riga is a bucket list destination for me. I don’t know if its the draw of the unknown and drive to explore some place new, but Riga seems like such an intriguing, unique city that’s just waiting to be discovered.

I’ve been trying to visit Ireland for years, but I always end up booking to go somewhere else. Whether I end up in one of the city’s many libraries, delve into it’s history, or take a walk on the wild side, hopefully this year will be the year I hop on that plane!

Copenhagen is the one that got away…I think I’ve had my trip to Copenhagen rearranged 4 or 5 times due to the pandemic so I’m hoping I’ll finally get to visit the Danish capital at some point this year.

Berlin is one of those cities that I’d love to visit at Christmas time (along with a million other people, I know). So this Christmas I’m planning to head to Berlin for a few days, eat some tasty food, enjoy the Christmas markets and other festivities, and take a stroll around the city.

I’ve always heard great things about Bath. Although it’s a relatively small city, its packed with independent retailers, unique attractions, and some of the best spots to eat and drink. And to me, those three things seem like a pretty good combination.

I used to go to Manchester all the time. But to be honest, it must have been at least 10 years since I last visited and explored the city. So hopefully I’ll be able to head back this year and rediscover the city in all its glory.

The perks of travelling and meeting people on the road is that you get to make so many new friends in so many different places around the world. I have a few friends in Sweden that I’d love to go and visit and catch up with, and I’d also love to explore Stockholm – so why not combine the two?

To be honest, I prefer Glasgow to Edinburgh. I don’t know what it is about it, but there’s just something that Glasgow offers that Edinburgh is just missing. I’m hoping to go to a few concerts up in the city so I’ll definitely be taking some time to rediscover my love for this Scottish city!

And there you have it, my 10 cities for 2022! Hopefully at the end of this year I’ll be sat here reminiscing about each and every one of them (and maybe even a few extra…), and I hope you’ll tag along for the journey. Because it might be a wild one…

Are there any cities you’re hoping to visit this year? Let me know in the comments below! And as always, happy exploring!

  1. That’s quite an impressive list. I’ve been to a couple of them. I’m almost afraid to say out loud which cities I’d like to visit this year, but here it is: Toronto, Milwaukee, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas. I’m reasonably confident I’ll get to Toronto considering it’s only 100 kilometres away from here. As for the rest—we’ll see!
